Human beings possess the ability to adapt to all kinds of conditions. In these times of uncertainty, we are forced to adjust to the current situation and always striving to survive day by day. Nature has always been the getaway for mankind to seek ideas and reflect upon. One of the natural phenomena that intrigue us is Mimicry.

We are surrounded by a kaleidoscope of visual patterns – both living and non-living. The symmetry of butterfly wings, cheetah scattered pattern, and the heating texture of lava.

Mimicry in the realm of biology is a phenomenon characterized by the superficial resemblance of two or more organisms that are not closely related taxonomically. A resemblance confers an advantage – such as protection from predators – to one or both organisms, which deceives the animate agent of natural selection.

In short, Mimicry is when a plant or animal resembles another organism or inanimate object, either to gain another advantage or to stay alive. We gain new perspectives on what we can take a lesson and implement it in our sandals from this idea.

From this insight, our R&D team started to sketch the new silhouette for slipper sandals.

The first approach on the Mimic was taken from our main slipper sandals line, Manic. Our R&D team was then experimenting with putting the backstrap of Alto to the upper part of Mimic. This is intended to make the identity of Hi Jack Sandals bolder, and a chance for people to explore the interchangeable strap making Mimic is more than your ordinary slippers.

It’s the birth of a new sandal – Mimic, adding another family member for Hi Jack Sandals.
