The Kitchener’s Route

One may think that cooking is all about what happens in the kitchen. But to an actual kitchener, it also entails some things they do outside the space throughout the day—like going to the market for ingredients or entertaining diners in the open air. Every day, there’s a trail of steps they leave, a trip to be made—the kitchener’s route. It’s a path that alternates between various surfaces—wet and dry, inside and outside.
Together with Set N Rise, we came up with a pair of sandals that works both in and beyond the kitchen. Named after the Japanese word for crispy chicken skin, Kawa is a pair inspired by the love of good food and the people who make it. It features a kitchen-approved enclosed toe and a Vibram®️ ripple sole for non-slip agility that still looks good outside the kitchen, so you can move between spaces seamlessly even on your busiest days.
