Blur Umumkan “The Ballad of Darren” Sebagai Album Barunya

10 jam yang lalu akun resmi Blur memposting sebuah pengumuman bahwa mereka akan merilis album baru di bulan juli tanggal 21 mendatang, bertajuk “The Ballad of Darren” yang berisikan 10 track, mereka menggunakan foto Martin Parr (British Photographer) sebagai sampul album mereka. Sebagai penanda album baru mereka merilis sebuah single yang ada di album tersebut berjudul “The Narcissist” berdurasi 4 menit 5 detik.
Blur adalah sebuah band asal Inggris yang didirikan di Colchester pada tahun 1989 sebelum “Blur” nama mereka adalah Seymour. Beranggotakan Damon Albarn sebagai vokalis/keyboardis, Graham Coxon sebagai pemain gitar dan back-vokal dan Dave Rowntree sebagai pemain drum. Alex James kemudian bergabung sebagai pemain bass. Blur dianggap sebagai ikon musik Britpop dan termasuk salah satu band yang sukses baik dari sudut pandang kritikus ataupun secara komersial.
8 tahun setelah The Magic Whip dirilis blur tidak pernah merilis materi-materi baru mereka, jangka 8 tahun tersebut menjadikan momentum untuk beberapa personil nya merilis sebuah album seperti Damon Albarn merilis “The Nearer the Fountain, More Pure the Stream Flows” pada tahun 2021, sementara itu Graham Coxon membuat album dan skoring untuk series “The End of the F***ing World (2018)”, “The End of the F***ing World 2 (2019)”, “I Am Not Okay with This (2020)” dan album solo Graham Coxon “Superstate” pada tahun 2021.

“Darren adalah banyak orang. Secara langsung dia adalah satu orang. tetapi apakah kita ingin membocorkan siapa Darren? Ada foto Daren di album ini. Tidak di sampul depan. Tadinya akan ada, tetapi kemudian kami menaruhnya di sampul bagian dalam karena itu bukan jenis perhatian yang diinginkan Darren.”

Albarn mengklaim bahwa “tujuan” album ini adalah untuk merefleksikan generasi blur saat ini, namun dia berkata: “Saya rasa album ini juga memiliki cukup banyak dunia modern di dalamnya sehingga dapat dinikmati oleh orang-orang yang lebih muda.”
Dekat-dekat ini Blur akan bermain di acara Primavera Sound Barcelona pada bulan juni dan di Stadion Wembley pada bulan Juli mendatang dan mereka menjadi tajuk utama dalam acara tersebut. Sebelum itu, mereka akan mengadakan pertunjukan kota asal mereka, Colchester, Essex, di Colchester Arts Centre.

Ten hours ago, Blur’s official account posted an announcement that they will release a new album on July 21st, titled “The Ballad of Darren,” which contains ten tracks; they use a photo of Martin Parr (British Photographer) as their album cover. As a marker of the new album, they released a single on the album entitled “The Narcissist” with a duration of 4 minutes and 5 seconds.
Blur is an English band founded in Colchester in 1989. Before “Blur,” their name was Seymour. It consists of Damon Albarn as vocalist/keyboardist, Graham Coxon on guitar and back-vocals, and Dave Rowntree on drums. Alex James later joined as a bass player. Blur is considered a Britpop music icon and one of the most successful bands both from a critic’s point of view and commercially.
Eight years after The Magic Whip was released, Blur never released their new material; the 8-year period made momentum for some of the personnel to release an album, such as Damon Albarn released “The Nearer the Fountain, More Pure the Stream Flows” in 2021, while Graham Coxon made an album and scoring for the series “The End of the F***ing World (2018)”, “The End of the F***ing World 2 (2019)”, “I Am Not Okay with This (2020)” and Graham Coxon’s solo album “Superstate” in 2021.
According to a quote from Radio X, when Damon Albarn was asked, he revealed the title of their new album,
“Darren is many people. Live, he’s one person, but do we want to divulge who Darren is? There’s a photo of Daren on the album. Not on the front cover. There was going to be, but then we put it on the inside cover because that’s not the kind of attention Darren wants.”
“What’s the point of doing all this unless there’s something that represents what we’re all feeling right now?” Albarn claims that the “purpose” of the album is to reflect the current blur generation, but he said: “I think it also has enough of the modern world in it that it can be enjoyed by younger people.”
Blur will be playing at Barcelona’s Primavera Sound in June and at Wembley Stadium in July, and they are headlining those events. Before that, they will play a show in their hometown of Colchester, Essex, at the Colchester Arts Center.
