Tepatnya di tanggal 24 Juni 2023 kemarin Hijack Sandals bersama Living Society Media menghelat acara musik bertajuk “Batavia Collective Showcase” yang bertempatkan di AOM Dining Club Bandung. Doni Joesran, Elfa Zulham, dan Kenny Gabriel berhasil menghipnotis penonton. Masih dalam rangkaian promosi mini album mereka berjudul BTVC, Bandung menjadi salah satu kota dalam rangkaian tur tersebut.
Jika ditarik mundur, perkenalan kita dengan Batavia Collective terjadi 4 tahun lalu, di mana akun youtube ‘Berita Angkasa’ mengunggah video berdurasi 12:35 menit dengan judul “Batavia Collective: Mixtape Session” mengamini pepatah dari mata turun ke hati saya dan beberapa teman saya yang menonton video tersebut sepakat bahwa kita menyukai Batavia Collective dan terus mengikuti perkembangan mereka sejak itu.
Showcase ini dibuka jam 7 malam dengan spinning session oleh Ovan Mustofa. Dengan track-track pilihan dari lingkup genre Jazz, Nu Jazz, dan broken beat. Cocok sebagai set pemanasan sebelum Batavia Collective mulai.
Para penonton lambat laun mulai berdatangan mengisi venue dan mendapatkan leaflet eksklusif dari Living Society Media yang membahas lebih dalam seputar Batavia Collective.
Tepat jam 20:30 Doni Joesran, Elfa Zulham dan Kenny Gabriel datang ke venue. Para penonton sudah berkumpul mengisi AOM Dining Club seakan mereka sudah siap untuk menanti Batavia Collective bermain. Set panggung yang kecil membuat penampilan BTVC kali ini semakin intimate. Dengan set lampu yang disiapkan oleh Convert Textured semakin mendukung set panggung yang disiapkan.
Tepat jam 21:15 BTVC berkumpul di atas panggung dan bersiap untuk tampil kembali di Bandung setelah terakhir bermain di Papandayan Jazz Festival pada tahun 2022. Setelah sedikit speech pembukaan dari tim Living Society Media, Kenny Gabriel menyapa para penonton dan Elfa Zulham langsung memberi cue untuk memulai masuk ke lagu pertama: Senopati Shuffle. Perpaduan drum beat dari Elfa Zulham, suara tebalnya synth bass dari Kenny Gabriel dan lead synth dari Doni Joesran membuat lagu ini menjadi sebuah lagu yang konstan namun tetap catchy.
Selain membawakan lagu-lagu terbaru mereka yang terdapat di Self-Titled EP, BTVC juga membawakan single awal mereka seperti Propulsion. Atmosfer yang tak akan terlupakan ketika BTVC berhasil menghipnotis para penonton dengan permainan nya yang fantastis. Hingga di penghujung showcase, mereka encore dengan membawakan rendition dari J Dilla – Fall In Love. Serentak para penonton langsung menyambut dengan senandungan.

On June 24 2023, Hijack Sandals together with Living Society Media held a showcase for Batavia Collective which took place at AOM Dining Club Bandung. Doni Joesran, Elfa Zulham, and Kenny Gabriel managed to hypnotize the audience. Still in the promotional series for their mini album entitled BTVC, Bandung is one of the cities in the series of tours.
Our first encounter with Batavia Collective took place 4 years ago, where the YouTube account ‘Berita Angkasa’ uploaded a 12:35 minute video with the title “Batavia Collective: Mixtape Session”. Right after that we agreed that we love the sounds of Batavia Collective and have followed their steps ever since.
The showcase opens at 7 pm with a spinning session by Ovan Mustofa. With selected tracks from the genres of Jazz, Nu Jazz, and broken beats. Suitable as a warm-up set before Batavia Collective starts.
People gradually started arriving at the venue and received an exclusive leaflet from Living Society Media on an in-depth information about Batavia Collective.
At 20:30 Doni Joesran, Elfa Zulham and Kenny Gabriel came to the venue. The audience had gathered to fill the AOM Dining Club, they were ready for the Batavia Collective to play. The small stage set made BTVC’s appearance even more intimate this time. With the set of lights prepared by Convert Textured, it further supports the stage set prepared.
At exactly 21:15 BTVC gathered on stage and prepared to perform again in Bandung after last playing at the Papandayan Jazz Festival in 2022. After a few opening speeches from the Living Society Media team, Kenny Gabriel greeted the audience and Elfa Zulham immediately gave the cue for starting to enter the first song: Senopati Shuffle. The combination of the drum beat from Elfa Zulham, the thick voice of the synth bass from Kenny Gabriel and the lead synth from Doni Joesran make this song a constant and catchy jam.
Apart from presenting their newest jams on the Self-Titled EP, BTVC also performed their earlier jam, such as Propulsion. An unforgettable atmosphere when BTVC managed to hypnotize the audience with their fantastic performances. Until the end of the showcase, they encore with a rendition of J Dilla – Fall In Love. Simultaneously the audience immediately greeted with hums.
