Our new chapter in Bali has just begun. To celebrate our new location in Canggu, we held a series of events called Melting Hues, comprising a print exhibition/housewarming party at our new store and a bar takeover at Canggu’s postmodern happiness portal, Club Soda. Here’s a recap of our activities on the island, from event preparation to one of the grooviest and most memorable nights we’ve ever had.

Thursday, December 1 – Studio Visit
Our first agenda after arriving on the island was to pick up some prints at Bali’s renowned printmaking studio Black Hand Gang. At the studio, we got to see in person how a piece of collaborative artwork made by our creative team was turned into beautiful prints—each layer of color applied carefully onto paper by BHG’s resident printmakers. Witnessing the digital artwork turned into these striking pieces by people who excel at their craft was nothing less than an amazing experience.

Friday, December 2 – Print Exhibition
Our busiest day of the week yet started with preparing the store for the print exhibition and housewarming party. After the prints were installed and everything else was set, our team members set up a turntable for a live spinning session by Living Society Media. One by one, L/S members took turns putting out tunes to Canggu’s open air—inviting curious passersby to come and check out all that was up at the store.

Saturday, December 3 – Bar Takeover
It’s time for us to head to Club Soda for the final day of Melting Hues. After the sun was down, the bar was packed with guests sipping on cocktails while listening to the guest DJs. The set opened with the duo Antadoux warming up the bar’s atmosphere with experimental ambient tunes. Then Plaur came in with a distinctly percussive sound embodied in various genres. The set continued with Raissa, who played an eclectic mix the DJ is known for. Once it was Kasimyn’s turn, the crowd started pooling in front of the turntable. The DJ went all in to please the goers with hard-hitting beats and masterful play of dynamics. Afterwards, Mairakilla took over with ultra-energizing techno beats for everyone to lose themselves in. The set finally closed off with Ovan from L/S playing a fun mix of brokenbeat and afrobeat sounds, gradually stirring in a coda to the unforgettable night.
